Woven Strips and Coin Flowers With Judy Smith
After dazzling everyone at Tuesday night’s club, Judy spent Wednesday at Luke’s Kentucky Clubhouse imparting her knowledge during a hands-on workshop! She brought her friend, Nancy, along with her to help guide students through a few of her special techniques. During a quick break, we had a lunch of pizza, breadsticks, and a spring salad.
First, we dove into our scrap collections to create a background of woven fabric strips. This is a wonderful way to use up those bits and piece of fabric we just can’t seem to let go of and create a colorful and textured background for our quilt. Then, we learned about modern applique and embellishing techniques to create whimsical “coin flowers” and finished it off with traditional prairie points!
